HOT! HOT! July and August......

Myrtle Beach Vacation with with Bellavia's.....we spent 5 days at Myrtle Beach with Nana & Papa Bellavia and Uncle Jimmy. Julia also brought one of her best friends with her, Julia Hickey - our neighbor. That was fun referring to 2 Julia's the whole trip:) The weather was beautiful, water was warm and there were plenty of activities for all. We had a great time!!

Most Valuable Player.....we are very proud of Julia as she received the MVP Award for her Swim Team in the "6 & under" category. She placed in every heet that she swam and nothing below 3rd place. She scored the most points for the team out of her division. She absolutely loved swimming - which we never saw coming. Jen only swam in one meet on her swim team growing up as a kid and she called it quits :)

Surprise...Surprise.....we recently celebrated Papa Doug's 65th Birthday. Liz planned a "Cowboy/Country" themed Surprise Birthday for him. She hired a Bluegrass band and the drinks were flowing. We had a great time dancing the night away cowboy style!!! He was definitely surprised and happy to have his friends and family there to celebrate.

Saddle Up....Julia spent 4 days at the Clear Creek Dude Ranch in the mountains of NC with Mama Liz and Papa Doug. They had a great time horseback riding, tubing, painting horses, enjoying cookouts and each being assigned to their own horse. Julia absolutely loved horseback riding on "Trigger". I believe she went on 2 trips for a total of 3 hours one day with Doug. She even cried the first night that she was home because she missed "Trigger". Visit with the Flinn's....Brian (Julia's Godfather and Dave's best friend) and his wife Alana came to Raleigh to visit for the weekend. We had a great time catching up and spending time together. We took the Flinn's out on the boat on Falls Lake for a relaxing day of R&R and tubing. Brian, Alana and Dave did a 10 mile run Saturday morning as Dave prepares for his upcoming marathon.

Where did May and June Go?

Wow - where did May and June go? The days of lounging around and watching TV are over with the calendar filling up with plenty of activities. There is never down time for us!

April:

Captiva Moon....We spent 10 days in Captiva this year with Liz & Doug and had a fabulous trip. Captiva was beautiful as usual. Julia learned to snorkel. Liz & Julia made shell art. Alot of time was spent by Dave digging holes in the beach. And Doug and Jenn relaxed!!!

May:

Old College Days....The Seck's came to visit for a weekend in May as Dave & Mike headed to Pinehurst to golf. Kim and I enjoyed spending time with the kids - Julia, Michael and Matthew.

Happy Birthday Papa John....We celebrated Papa John's Birthday in May with the Bellavia Family and had a great time with cousins Daisy & Ian and Aunt Irene & Uncle Tony.

June:

Anniversary...We celebrated our 10 year Anniversary in Antigua. We enjoyed re-connecting after many years as couple and spending "we" time. The swim-up bar was a daily favorite. We spent our days snorkeling, sampling the buffets, swimming, drinking and even went on a Zip line tour over the tree tops of a rain forest in Antigua.

Kindergarten....Julia finished her first year at St. Raphael's Catholic School and has grown tremendously - reading, writing, math, addition, subtraction, etc. She made alot of great friends her first year of Kindergarten.

The Tooth Fairy goes broke...Julia has lost 4 teeth this year and has the cutest smile ever. The going rate for her is $6/tooth - ugh.

Coach Dave....Dave coached her Spring Soccer team with the YMCA and had a very successful season. It was a lot of fun to watch - she will now be moving on to play with the CASL league in the Fall. http://www.caslnc.com/home/default.asp

The Tsunami's.....Julia made the Wakefield Plantation swim team and has proven to love swimming. She is doing so well, that we decided to start posting her results on the blog on the right hand side so we can remember these moments in years to come.

Hitting the Pavement....Dave has decided to run a FULL marathon in the Fall and has begun his training running 4 days a week. He runs on November 2 in Raleigh at the "City of Oaks Marathon". Please join us in cheering him on!!! http://www.cityofoaksmarathon.com/

Cisco Live 2008....Jen just returned from a conference in Orlando sponsored by Cisco Systems. It is always eye-opening to return from these events and know what the future holds for technology...hold on to your seats - there are some exciting gadgets and capabilities to come. She enjoyed the Customer Appreciation Event sponsored by Cisco at Universal Studios where they had the park to themselves for the night and a private Bare Naked Ladies concert.

Coco.....Unfortunately our sweet dog Coco broke her leg in June. Luckily she was in great hands with an Orthopedic Surgeon who performed surgery and placed a pin in her front left leg. She was such a trooper, however, recovery of no activity for 6-8 weeks has proven to be challenging for a 3 year old dog who wants to run, jump and play with her best buddie Julia and friends. It has been a stressful time, but she is on the mend...phew. Thanks to all 4 parents for helping us get through this process.

Well that's it for now, are you exhausted yet? Be on the lookout for July....
